Hands-On Review of Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Washer
Throughout the years, the carpet cleaning industry has changed dramatically. Some manufacturers have managed to gain an immensely amount of popularity and success while others have dropped out prematurely. I remember growing up with Hoover and listening to my parents speak highly of the company. Now, I am capable of replicating their words and bestowing a substantial amount of praise upon the company and their products, especially the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Washer. Has Hoover hit the bull’s eye once more? You’ll be able to find out below!
Size And Weight
When I first discovered the Hoover Power Scrub, I was somewhat taken aback, by its picture. It looked ungodly massive and too enormous for household use. Fortunately, pictures can be deceiving, and I learned this first hand. In fact, this carpet cleaner isn’t massive at all. It isn’t much bigger than a vacuum cleaner and weighs just 18.1 pounds! Although there is very little need to lift the machine from the floor, I can do so easily, and it only requires a single hand.
The carpet cleaner measures just 21.5 by 14.5 by 23.5 inches. Again, it is very similar in size to a vacuum cleaner and behaves like one as well. When I’ve finished utilizing it for the day, I can effortlessly roll it into the closet and shut the door. It is slightly ugly, but this shouldn’t be a deal breaker since it can be stored away so effortlessly.
Plenty Of Reach
When attempting to invest in a carpet cleaner or even a vacuum, I encourage you to look close at each model’s reach or operating radius. A lengthier and more generous operating range is highly recommended and will give you the freedom to roam around your home, without being required to stop, unplug the power cord and plug up in another location. Nothing is more frustrating than utilizing a machine, which is too restrictive or in which the cord is consistently being jerked right out of the outlet. This is simply not the case with the Hoover Power Scrub.
The unit is undoubtedly liberating. It comes with an extensive 20ft power cord. Although it is very long, the unit is equipped with an on-board cord holder, so rolling up at the end of the day is almost effortless. This carpet cleaner also comes with an 8ft hose and upholstery tool. This combination significantly extends the unit’s reach and provides the user with the ability to get the job done much more rapidly, without stopping. Whether I am cleaning up a spill or freshening up my couch, I can quickly achieve the task, thanks to the extensive reach of this carpet cleaner.
Also, the unit’s 11.25” nozzle width is great and helps to reduce the number of pass overs required to eliminate all of the dirt and debris.
There is truly an array of benefits, which are incredibly important, but I sincerely believe that the tanks may be the most integral. Without reliable, sizeable tanks, I would find myself stopping, refilling and emptying too frequently for my liking. This is something that I do not want to do, since it would keep me off of the couch for far too long. This is why I absolutely adore the Hoover Power Scrub. First and foremost, this specific unit comes equipped with a 1-gallon clean water tank and a 1-gallon dirty water tank. 1-gallon is plentiful and gives me the ability to get the job finished, without needing to stop the majority of the time.
Of course, the capacity is great, but this isn’t the only factor that makes this product so compelling. It is the design of the tanks that makes them so convenient and easy to empty and refill. Each is equipped with a handle, which gives me the ability to effortlessly lift the tank out of its compartment and drain it rapidly, before returning it to its designated compartment. It helps me remain active and guarantees that the cleanup is completed, without resulting in yet another messy spill.
Also, the unit comes with a wash and rinse selector. I have been thoroughly impressed with this feature. With the wash setting, I can clean my carpets with the solution, before switching over to the rinse setting and removing the soap residue from the carpets.
To date, I have been using the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Washer for a few months and had yet to find a mess it cannot defeat. Suffice to say, this carpet cleaner delivers an exceptional performance, but it may not be ideal for commercial settings. The unit’s performance should be credited to a handful of features, including the SpinScrub technology. These brushes, which are found at the bottom of the carpet cleaner, spin consistently and powerful, during operation. They make it possible for the machine to dislodge dirt and debris, which has sunk deep into your carpet’s fabrics. I also enjoy the fact that these brushes are easily removable. This makes cleaning them up significantly easy.
Another feature, which helps to deliver a worthy performance, is the unit’s forced heated air mechanism. This component contributes to disperse hot air so that the carpets can be dried much more rapidly. I despise getting my socks wet, and this rarely happens, thanks to this striking feature.
The Hoover Power Scrub isn’t one of the most expensive carpet cleaners on the market, and this was compelling. However, this also means that the unit cannot parallel the performance of much more costly alternatives. There is no heater here, so its value is lowered slightly. Still, this product is capable of delivering a satisfactory performance in many circumstances. It also comes with a 2-year limited warranty for added peace of mind. To me, these features definitely make this product a worthy investment.
